I'm having a very special few days at the moment. Daddy's in Dunedin on an audit, so I have been cruelly forced to take two days off work to cover him in the baby-minding dept. Hurray!
I'm lucky on two counts: first, the weather is gorgeous, and second, it's the school hols, so I have my other angel-pie at home to help out. This makes a major diff and she is lovely company to boot. For the last two nights, after we've managed to get Sebby to sleep, we've taken to my bed with chocolate biscuits and trashy movies, and it's been just lovely. She is such a darling girl, there isn't a rotten bone in her body. She's just the BEST at girl time.
Unlike ol' Dangermouse here, who is just a pickle of mischief. No, I don't know what that means either, it just fell out of my fingers and now it seems to be a good explanation for what a funny little man he is. He's into everything, and I fully understand why Daddy calls him "MiniHoover". Oh my god the amount of dust that child must ingest.
I know one solution would be to vacuum more often, but seriously, he will find the dust-bunnies ANYWHERE. This is a terrible pic, taken about 2 mins ago, which proves my point.
When he is not on the bunny-hunt, he attempts to inflict head wounds on himself. Here he is after an aborted raid on the cat's bowl, taking the short route back.

And here is his Look of Innocence, which melts even the stoniest of hearts. Also, he's been dragging a book called "Guess How Much I Love You" round with him all morning, so how can I be irritable with him?
So yeah, nice days.
On the other hand, this morning, being at home with him by myself for the first time in a long time (M isn't awake yet) I was beset with melancholy. It was one of those times when you just miss someone with your whole heart, and I missed my sister. She was there so much when M was little, and it was wonderful. She's an amazing auntie. And she's so much fun to be at home with. No-one gets you like your sister does. No-one feels as aligned and attuned and easy to be with. No-one can make you laugh the way your sister does, till the back of your throat aches and you think you might be sick. You can tell your sister anything and she will understand you. And who else can you embarque upon ill-advised hair-dying escapades with, and end up giggling and telling each other you look gorgeous, no matter what colour your heads are?
I love where we live, and I couldn't ever regret the decision to move, but there are some big downsides, that's for sure. Fuffy, I love you, and I miss you. You would love being with this baby so much, and he would love being with you.
