Today we celebrated Mutti's birthday from afar in a suitably rural way -- we took Sebby to the SWEETCORN FESTIVAL. Oh yeah there is too such a thing. And actually it was kind of great. There was old farm machinery, and this 1923 fire engine for my fire-engine-obsessed little man to "drive", which put a huuuuuge smile on his face.
It even had a cool wind-up siren. I was invited on board as the Sirener in suport of the Driver and Main Fire Officer, Seb. (Or actually Rose, as he insisted on calling himself all day, having been reading too much Badjelly. Daddy was Binklebonk, Seb announced, and Molly was Dinglemouse. I was pretty relieved to end up as Tim.)
Awwww, he is cute enough to be a Rose, isn't he? This is in the cornfield, where you could go and...
...pick your own corn! Rose did a top job. We had it tonight and it was DELISH.
At Eyebright there's a big country store too, and a gorgeous garden where they were having a scarecrow competition. This wasn't a scarecrow but Seb liked her very much. We picnicked in the sunshine and had a lovely morning.
Sadly Dinglemouse was at work and missed out on the SWEETCORN FESTIVAL but she has had a great week this week anyway, getting her learner's licence first try. Time for a quick pose, methinks!
So that was how we spent Mutti's birthday, though we wish we could have been with you, dearest. Happy, happy, happy birthday! Love ya!
