Cute! Super Cute! And Not Cute At All.

Let's start with some cuteness. Here are some of the things Sebby got up to with his Daddy this week. There was a special PlayCentre trip to the train at Tahunanui. Sebby loved it and went on five times! If you look closely you can see him in the bright overexposed bit of this photo, watching the lucky people who are getting to go on this ride.

Here he is at PlayCentre itself, playing with coloured water. When you are one, there is nothing cooler in the whole world.

Except maybe a freaky NODDY in a car at the supermarket. What on God's green earth is going on with Noddy's schozz? Why is Sebby not scared to death of this vile mannekin? But no. Adores it.

Here's the super cute bit. Playing roaring games with Daddy. Whoa, scary guy!

And here's the bit that's not cute at all, being the face he's been pulling for most of the weekend. There are two eye-teeth coming through; he is not happy. Poor bunny!

A day in the life

Snapshots from Seb's day... because it's the ordinary things that you don't record, and that get lost over time.

Here he is on Sunday, March 20th, 2011, aged sixteen months and two weeks, eating his Nutrigrain, banana and yoghurt in the morning.

This is Seb showing a fabulous new skill; you can tell him what book to go and get, and off he goes, rifles through the pile, and toddles back with the one you asked for. Spot on every time! And they're library books too, new this week. He's a smart cookie. The downside of this game is that you have to read a lot of books a lot of times. Yesterday in the car Liam and I discovered we could already cite one of them end to end by heart. I know a rhino, we like to take tea, I have two sugars and rhino has three etc etc etc.

After all that literary stuff it was time for some good old playing in the dirt.

Then, after nap, we went round to Philip and Fran's wonderland of a ten acre spread for a garden party. Including croquet! Everyone was dressed up, there was a Dress Code; gents in collars and braces, boaters optional, ladies in long skirts. I didn't have one. But Seb looked smart as paint.

But the chores don't do themselves while you're out gadding around. When we got back there was washing to fold; Seb helped.

And then it was bedtime. Actually this was last night, if I'm honest; but that's how my boy ends his days, with milk and a story.

What a darling you are, Seb.

On Safari with Dad and Big Sis

This is another special guest appearance from Dad as blog author. I've taken it on as Molly, Seb and I have just got back from a couple of nights away camping. Partly for the fun of camping (although "fun" is not a word terribly appropriate to camping with a 1 year old!) and partly to give Mum a quiet weekend after a super busy few weeks.

We went to Kaiteriteri up in Golden Bay and this is our campsite. I'd like to say we tossed a coin for who got to share their tent with Seb but Mol (who otherwise was a fantastic little helper all weekend) wasn't leaving anything to chance and he ended up with yours truly.

The days were filled with endless episodes of camping excitement such as... solo balloon swingball (I'm kinda dreading the day that a balloon and a piece of string isn't a sure fire entertainment extravganza!)...

...trying to convince the local ducks that an acorn is edible...

... helping Mol "tidy" her tent by grabbing her knickers and throwing them outside and behind your back when she is not looking.

But despite these fun activities plus beach time and playgrounds etc , it was this fantastic drain that stole the show. I kid you not! Wandering back and forth to his drain with little hand fulls of stones and dropping them in kept him amused on numerous occasions for ages and way more than any other activity. Who needs an Ipad or xbox etc when you have the first class entertainment a drain can provide!

Anyway Mol and I also introduced Seb to the "non-roughing it" traditions of a Hegarty camping trip with a yummy brunch this morning. OK, that's actually my breakfast but you wouldn't think so from the look in Seb's eye. (My drink bottle too of course:))

He did get some of mine but mostly shared Mol's pancakes. Possibly the most OTT ones ever - banana, big lumps of chocolate, mapple syrup, rasberry stuff, icecream and the fatest pancakes in the world. Not a bad view either.

Terribly irresponsible photo time... I mean hell, he hasn't got his seatbelt on! Obviously he is wanting to be just like his sister who is having driving lessons. She got tooted at for the first time last weekend. She had virtually stopped in the middle of the road I guess so I could see their point! Better invest in an "L" sticker I think.

Finally a couple of Seb water frenzy shots. Always a safe bet for some fun photos.

This one is pretty funny at first look but if you then check out the shadow ...What the...?!?!? Speaking of his boy bits. We had a very amusing bathtime (OK it was actually a laundry tub) when we discovered that he could only reliable identify by pointing/grabbing "nose" and "winkle". Funny as hell. Tried quite a few other parts ie head, feet, eyes...no success. I blame the mother!

That's all from us. Fab time had by all. Particularly Mummy me thinks!
