This is what happens when you get lazy and don't blog for weeks and weeks: you end up with wayyyyy too many things to cover and it's all your own fault. D'oh!
Let's start with SCHOOL which has been a major focus of the last month. Seb and I have done four school visits, half days with his new class, and he's fitting right in. Here he is on Day One:
No, he did not know Ezra two hours earlier.
Here he is on the mat with his lovely teacher, Mrs Ross. Mrs Ross is warm and bustling and has eyes in the back of her head. She never needs to raise her voice and is in Total Control. Mrs Ross is awesome.
And here he is later the same day with the principal, Mr P. Mr P comes in once a week for "Buzz Groups", which are basically show and tell and have a yack. Mr P had a good old talk to Seb and then came to see me. "He IS ready for school, isn't he," said Mr P. "Very eloquent!"
A week before The Real Birthday came The Party. I wasn't very good at capturing The Party. I was too busy fretting and trying to be socially competent. That takes 162% of my concentration. Anyway, there was a giant bouncy castle and a blue sky.
And a lot of really nice little boys having a great time together.
I don't have a picture of the Plate Smashing setup!! I am hopeless. It was awesome.
And at last The Great Day came. And with it the Great Present Pile. Ooooh what a happy boy!
(The new lunchbox and drinkbottle were perfectly timed 'cos we left his old one at Paula's by mistake. Three people told him at school how much they liked it!)
OMG mutant wrestlers. Aunty Will can see into the SOUL of a five year old boy.
And last but not least a skateboard. How growed up does he look?
Our last school visit was in the morning and everyone sang Happy Birthday to their new classmate. The afternoon was spent at the beach, and then we went to dinner at Richmond's finest (this is not saying AWFULLY much, but it's good homey delicious cooking) -- the birthday boy's choice. The table was scattered with stars and the menus were Very Special.
What a darling. We finished off the night with fireworks. It was a lovely, lovely day and oh, what a lovely, lovely boy. We could not be prouder of you, Sebby. Good luck on your new adventure, you handsome, clever schoolboy!
And this little post-script is for Mutti, my partner in nailcrime. These are a mishmosh of mehndi designs, done in permanent marker on a nail-polished sandwich bag.
Then you just cut out out to the approximate size of your nail; peel it off the plastic; put on basecoat, and quickly apply the decal. Top coat and you're done. Cool eh?
They don't look like that any more though. I went out to the garden when they were touch dry and started pulling up weeds, hoeing, etc etc. I had gloves on but I still munted the ends, they weren't set hard enough. Never mind! Nothing that a quick black French tip couldn't fix! And I think they actually look nicer with it.
