Settling in

We had a lovely weekend doing settling in things: going to Mitre 10 and Spotlight, buying the Important Bits that will make your house work.  Curtain fabric on special down to $6 a metre YAYYYY so I could totally afford the 20 metres its going to take to recurtain my bedroom.

Haven't started those yet though.  This weekend was all about arranging, and hanging up pictures, and making a house into a home.  Here are some of the bits that make me happy: let's start with the bathroom and my GIANT CLAWFOOT BATH OH YEAH.  So far I have had baths with both my children (though separately, not together).  It's awesomely huge.  Though it does fill up VERY SLOWLY, as in, allow half an hour.

Here is Sebby's room, not looking very good (why do moving men always put furniture in the very corner of the room?  It's not there any more) but proving that he does not have "a tiny room" as he claimed today on the phone to his aunt.

This is the bit I love most about my room.  I bought these funny wee shelves at an antique shop.  They're filled with little old rusty cans, Liam thinks they were tobacco cans maybe?  Anyway, now they are holding my jewellery.  And they're glittery and grungy and awesome.

Typically, we have had blazing blue skies for eight days but today was the day I went out with the camera.  Oh well.  You can't even see the mountains in this pic -- but I swear they're there.

Driveway, swing, rather random park bench waiting to be moved.

Here is Liam firing up the Warmsler for the first time.  Very exciting!

And here he is a couple of hours later, having produced us a roast dinner in it.  Fab!  He also got the radiators going with the wetback and the house is toasty roasty, it's quite odd feeling this warm in August, with no fire going. We are exceeding World Health Organisation recommended temperatures!!!  Haven't done that much since moving south.  HUZZAH!

And the wetback gave us lovely hot hot water for a bath. Win, win, win.

  1. A driveway AND a park bench? Parks smack of the Jane Austen era - how grand! LOL
Have a happy time with the 20 meters of curtains, and Good Luck for Always in your New Home. ♥
